The Vashon Island Coffee Roasterie lives and roasts coffee in the famous – Original & Historic – Seattle’s Best Coffee (SBC) roasting facility on Vashon Island. The retired SBC founder, Jim Stewart, kept his original SBC building, signage, roasting equipment, coffee museum and history after his company sold to Starbucks. While the Seattle’s Best Coffee brand is now owned by Starbucks, the origin and history of SBC remains the legacy of Jim Stewart and is on full display inside the original building. The vintage SBC vintage roasting equipment -still in use today and memorabilia seen throughout The Vashon Island Coffee Roasterie, tells the rich story of Jim’s early start in specialty coffee in this region beginning in 1969 and its ongoing history with us – to this day.
